WHAT’S IT LIKE TO HAVE SYNESTHESIA?
This question has fascinated me for a while. What’s it like when you’re a synesthete? Before else, here’s a brief view:
Synesthesia is an involuntary joining in which the real information of one sense is accompanied by a perception in another sense. In addition to being involuntary, this additional perception is regarded by the synesthete as real, often outside the body, instead of imagined in the mind’s eye.
Say, one can see colors in music and see shapes in sound. Others may associate letters, numbers or even days of the week with color. And one can even taste words!! Sounds crazy, right? Well, the above video will show you the effects of synesthesia in an individual.
And that sounds even more fascinating. While researching more, I’ve seen comments about synesthesia. Some say it’s actually cool and amazing. I, myself, was surprised upon knowing that such condition like this existed. Yeah, it can really get distracting, but I think life is exciting and interesting for people with synesthesia.
